متن کاملGamow-Teller strength distributions for nuclei in presupernova stellar cores.
Electron-capture and β-decay of nuclei in the core of massive stars play an important role in the stages leading to a type II supernova explosion. Nuclei in the f-p shell are particularly important for these reactions in the post Siliconburning stage of a presupernova star. In this paper, we characterise the energy distribution of the Gamow-Teller Giant Resonance (GTGR) for midfp-shell nuclei i...
متن کاملA / I ? + Gamow - Teller strength in nuclei
The distribution of p+ Gamow-Teller strength in 26Mg, 54Fe and 56Ni is calculated in the QRPA and large-basis shell-model spaces. The quenching relative to the simplest jj coupled model found in the QRPA is similar to that found in a shell-model basis which includes 2p2h ground-state correlations within the major shell (sd or pf). For 26Mg there is significant additional quenching found in the ...
متن کاملGamow-teller Strength Distribution in the -decay of Exotic Nuclei
We describe experimental results on the Gamow-Teller strength distribution as obtained from the B-decay of exotic nuclei. The most complete results, in light nuclei, confirm the absence of strength noted in (p,n) measurements. In heavier nuclei it is the remote tail of the resonance that is established by 8-decay.
متن کاملMissing and quenched Gamow-Teller strength.
Gamow-Teller strength functions in full (pf) spaces are calculated with sufficient accuracy to ensure that all the states in the resonance region have been populated. Many of the resulting peaks are weak enough to become unobservable. The quenching factor necessary to bring into agreement the low lying observed states with shell model predictions is shown to be due to nuclear correlations. To w...
